A Taser is a handheld, less-lethal electroshock weapon manufactured by Axon Enterprise that incapacitates targets from a distance by firing two dart-like probes. These darts, propelled by compressed nitrogen, remain connected to the main unit by wires, delivering high-voltage pulses that cause involuntary neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI).

Key Features and Mechanism:
Mechanism: When the darts hit, the device releases electrical pulses (typically around 50,000 volts, though much lower under load) that bypass the central nervous system, forcing intense muscle contractions and temporary paralysis.
Distance & Use: The probes can reach targets up to 35 feet (11 meters) away, depending on the model. They can also operate in “drive-stun” mode (direct contact) without a cartridge.
